Books @ Work: While reading Originals by Adam Grant, I was delighted to see that the research shows that procrastination actually yields a better product! I’ve always known that about the deck we converted into a porch many years ago. As we delayed, the ideas for improvement to our original design gave us a significantly better outcome.

Grant says studies have shown that people who were given a task or problem to solve, then told to play Minesweeper, Free Cell or Solitaire for a period of time before beginning their work, had significantly better results. Hooray! Apparently the simmering and incubating that take place as you are doing something mindless are very productive.
